Yesterday I wasn't able to go to the Pembroke show, but I did manage to have a day in Carmarthen. - It's much nearer (about 20 miles) and I was able to go there after my agoraphobic feelings subsided a bit. My friend that I was going to go to the show with , suggested it. She's very understanding, and knows how I can get. And the weather was lovely, so I decided to go. Most of the town is pedestrianised now, like lots of places these days. And all down one of the streets there were - guess what ? - Plant Stalls ;D They were all down the street on both sides, and I didn't know where to start looking ! I bought a Ceratostigma and some daffodil bulbs (some mineature ones, and some larger narcissi that have a scent) I'm going to put the Ceratostigma in a pot for now, because I don't want it to die if we get another bad winter. So we enjoyed the day after all

Your friend is a true friend. I am pleased you had a good day, and a photograph still would have been good. Am I right in thinking that we forumites helped?

Thanks everyone. Yes Cherry, the forum helped. It helped me to write it out, and the comments were very supportive and made me feel like I was not alone Sorry about there being no photo. I am having trouble with my laptop. It won't upload them. When my big computer comes back from being serviced I'll put some on then

That's great Hywel, really pleased you had a good day out & what a nice surprise to find a plant fair! We get them in Manchester city centre a few times a year, I tend to go along on the last day when they sell bags of leftover plants cheaply! ;D You've made me fancy a ceratostigma now, they're a pretty blue colour aren't they, I think some of them are hardy aren't they but like you I'd be a bit worried as even 'hardy' things have died in my garden over the last 2 winters.

I love this forum and I think it is amazing how we have helped one another. We have varied interests, but all come together on gardening, which is what keeps us together. (It keeps me sane and gives me peace too.)

You're so right, Cherry! Hywel, I'm glad you had a good day after all. The plant stall street sounds like a real treat! I wish we had one somewhere. I'm so surprised that people have been losing Ceratostigmas! I really thought they were tough plants. Good luck with yours.

Hi hywel, do they have that regular in Carmarthen then? I certainly haven't seen it before but then I don't go there all that often as it is 30 miles from here. the ceratostigma is hardy in Surrey or at least I never saw one succumb to the winter when I lived there. Quite a delicate looking shrub though as i recall. Our Sunday market is off while the County show is on but will be open again this weekend.

All those plant stalls, wonderful! I had two Ceratosigmas, a squat and a tall one but lost them both last winter. I was very upset as the colour is absolutely gorgeous and I'd planted them with orangy roses. Glad you had a nice day.

Oh thanks for all your replies Sweetpea yes the stalls are always in Carmarthen. They belong to Farmyard Nurseries in Llandysul And on a Friday there are usually even more plant stalls by other people. My ceratostigmas have never done very well. They always die after a year ot two and never grow much. So I'm keeping this one in a pot for now so that I can take care of it
