We have a large clump of snowdrops just beginning to show but unfortunately they are hidden by a rapidly expanding Ceanothus. Can they be moved to a more suitable site without checking their progress ?

I have dug some out of the ground at our old place, it'll be interesting to see if the flower this year or if they miss a year.

I see no reason why they shouldn't flower this year, Rosie?? The flowers will have already formed, after all. ;D

If you really feel you have to move them, dig them up with loads of soil and water them in well where you put them.
I would leave them until after they have flowered and split the clump and replant them where you can see them next year.

Did you plant bought bulbs? If you did the chances of them growing are slim I'm afraid. It annoys me that they are allowed to sell dried snowdrop bulbs.

That is how I want my spring, wildflower meadow to look. I transplanted loads down there last year, they haven't shown yet so there is still time for yours scotkat. The original ones are just showing but not flowering yet.

I would like some to go along the hedge outside the property so next time I'm out walking I'll take a plasi bag with me and 're-locate' ......hope it's not illegal !

It is but if you thin the clumps you will be doing the snowdrops a favour
