That must be very annoying Geumlover, when the weather picks up a bit hopefully more people will start looking around & you'll get a buyer.

The vegetable called Kalettes is new since I have been away. Has anyone tried these and would you cook them like Broccolini, steamed perhaps.

I didn't recognise the name Cherry but when I looked it up I have seen something about it somewhere with pictures a bit like 'blown' sprouts. It's supposed to be a cross between kale & sprouts I think.

Yes SueA and they were good. I lightly steamed them with baby spinach and served them over M&S lentils and rice. Lots of garlic went in and pine nuts on top. I had big pork chops with spices and lots of apple slices on top, cooked in a little apple juice, and a casserole. I love our potatoes, so there were lots of new baby potatoes. They don’t keep in Australia, so we made everything with sweet potatoes there. I am in Elgin now, so it is haddock tonight, but I am not cooking it. Love our food, but then I like all kinds of food.

That sounds very tasty Cherry, I made a leek 'flamiche' last night for tea, basically leeks sliced in rounds, cooked gently for about 15 mins. in a pan with a big dollop of butter (well Clover), seasoned & then a few spoons of double cream (Elmlea) added & stirred in for a couple of mins. then sealed in puff pastry brushed with egg/milk wash & baked for 25 mins at Gas 7 & served with mash & carrots.

Lovely SueA. . I love leeks. I made quiche on Saturday for lunch. I used a packet of broccolini and asparagus and chestnut mushrooms, and the gorgeous cheeses. Today, and for the last few days I have had a cold, but it has now gone to my chest. I am not cooking any more until I stop coughing.

There's a man down on the main road and he has a dog that howls all the time. If it isn't howling it's barking. Last night it howled constantly. I've hardly slept at all. At the moment it is barking.
The man is horrible. Neighbours living closer to him have told me he's nasty. Everyone hates him. I tried reporting the dog to the RSPCA but they told me to tell the council about it because it's a noise nuisance. It isn't really a noise nuisance (apart from last night) because it is in the distance but the howls often sound desparate (can't spell that) and panicky, and I am worried the dog isn't being cared for properly, otherwise why is it howling like that.
Reporting it to Carms council is a waste of time anyway because they are crap ! However they have sent me a noise nuisance log to fill in, which I will do.
Last April I reported an uneven crossing to them, in our local town, where the rise from the road to the pavement is more like a step. Beryl's wheelchair jolted against it and she nearly fell out. It took them from April until November, to tell me they had inspected the 'stippled paviours' and found nothing wrong with them. I didn't report the 'stippled paviours' ! That's how stupid they are !
I contacted my councilor about it, and he said he'd look into the matter, but I contacted him again in January and had no reply.
USELESS !

You are right of course@eli and it is frustrating, but what can the poor taxpayers do about it? At least you alerted the proper people to these problems.

My cold turned out to be proper flu and hospital was mentioned twice. However, I have escaped that and now take antibiotics. I have had 3 visits to the doctor instead. I am still very weak, but on the mend.

Not good having flu but at least you know it will get better soon. Wrap up well and put the QURANTINE notice on your door
