I,m sure I'll find plenty to do,Lou. I have done some more this morning and also done the ice cream cartons and margerine tubs that I use. It is a job I do when the weather is too bad to work outside or I can't go on the allotment. I couldn't go this morning because Rosemary needed the car. Went to the allotment this afternoon. Even though it rained nearly all day yesterday it didn't rain hard so the ground wasn't too wet and I was able to carry on with the weeding. Started doing the chrysanth bed.

Dry again today but a bit colder. Went on the allotment this morning and carried on with the weeding.Finished the chrysanth bed and started the dahlia bed. Rosemary needed the car this afternoon so I stayed at home and weeded my chrysanth bed here but when she got home ,about 3.30, I went back to the allotment and took 7 sacks of weeds to the re-cycling centre.

Frosty today so I didn't know if the ground would be workable but I went to the allotment this afternoon and it wasn't too bad. I was able to finish weeding the dahlia bed and start the gladioli bed. I will be ordering a load of manure soon and I just want to finish weeding the beds where the manure is going.

Today I have been sorting out my dahlia tubers ready for boxing up.They have all been in boxes under the greenhouse staging upside down. Took them into the other greenhouse which is empty on one side and sorted them into varieties. Then started trimming them up by cutting off all the straggly roots.Didn't get time to finish them but I am hoping to finish them tomorrow and box them up ready for propagation.

I finished tidying up the dahlia tubers .I didn't box them up though because I didn't have enough compost in the greenhouse. I had a bag and a half outside, frozen so I put them inside to thaw out. There is a lesson to be learned here, I hope ! So I took 108 chrysanth cuttings instead. I already had the cutting compost in the greenhouse.

The chrysanthemums are well away. The dahlia tubers look plump and healthy.

I don't normally grow pot tubers, Tel. Anyway I have boxed up all I need this afternoon. They are in 4 white plastic boxes and 2 mushroom boxes. I have put in 3 or 4 (sometimes 5 or 6) tubers of each variety. I have plenty of spare tubers but I have no room for any more boxes on my propagators. I put two of the white boxes on propagators in the kitchen and the rest on warming benches in the greenhouse. The picture of the chrysanth stools I showed you yesterday were on one of the warming benches and I have had to take some of these off to put the dahlias on.The dahlis need the bottom heat to start them growing but the chrysanths will still grow.

Our horticultural supply hut opened again this morning after being closed since the end of November. Because of the bad weather we didn't get many customers though. I will be going there every Saturday morning unless I am away. The ground is covered in snow so there was nothing I could do outside this afternoon so I just washed some more pots.
