Almost a full day and evening on the allotment. Dug up all the potatoes. It took me all morning and afternoon. Forked over the ground again after to get any that I missed which I always do. This evening I gave the onions and leeks another feed of nitrate of soda.Put more ties on the peas and sweet peas and tied up the broad beans. Got rid of several lettuces that were going to seed.

Doing mostly tying up jobs today in my garden this afternoon after shopping and on the allotment this evening. Both in my garden and on the allotment the dahlias needed tying up and side shooting and disbudding. The roses on the allotment needed dead heading and disbudding. in both places several annuals needed tying up.

This morning under the car port I washed all the potatoes that I dug up on Monday. Put some to one side that had show potential and cleaned them up further at the kitchen sink this afternoon. Gave four of my neighbours each at tray full from the others. Went to school this evening to feed the tomatoes . There were several tomatoes ready so I brought them home and also more broad beans which I will take to Blackleach tomorrow. Went on the allotment after and harvested more courgettes to take to Blackleach. I also put the final blanching collars on the leeks. They are the same collars but they are rectangular in shape and they turn round the other way.

I took the broad beans that I got from school and courgettes from my allotment to Blackleach this morning for any of my walking group who wants them. I have another show to go to on Saturday at Audenshaw which is at the other side of Bury from where I live. When I left Blackleach at 3.00 I went to the allotment for my veg for the show .Got the first runner beans, French beans and broad beans and some lettuces and radishes and a marrow and a squash.I don't usually cut flowers for a Saturday show till Friday but the weather forecast is very bad for tomorrow so I decided to cut what I could today so I cut all those from Blackleach and the allotment that I needed. After choir practice this evening I went in the garden and cut most of them from here. Tomorrow I have all the veg to sort out for showing. I have left the runner beans and French beans in wet towels overnight which makes them supple so that if they are slightly bent they can be straightened .

Spent this morning sorting the veg into sets for showing at Edenfield and tidying up the pot plants that I am showing. Cut a few more flowers from the garden this afternoon but we had a heavy downpour for about half an hour mid afternoon. This evening , after shopping , I loaded up the car ready for an early start in the morning. I would like to be there at 8.00 if I can and it will probably take me 45 minutes to get there.
