No gardening, but stocked up on potting compound....got a real bargain....a 15lt bag of bfb..for £9.99....the gc couldn't find the price....I could have bought it on Amazon for £21.49... Well done - I use a lot of that. I don't know what volume you get in the large boxes, but I go through two every year. I spent more time digging, and cut back the Cistus. Then OH came with his pickaxe and levered the root out - I was right to remove it, most of the rootball was rotting. I dug around where the old Ceanothus used to be and removed quite a lot of rotten wood. I've almost got a clear area now, and I can start preparing the ground for planting. No more 'legs' left, Sue, although one of the larger roots goes vertically from the point where OH cut it off, so it'll have to stay there.

Not yet - there are yet more small roots and loads of huge stones to remove! Then I'll feed the soil as I dig it over, and level it. I have four bags of dried manure-based 'Soil Improver' as we haven't any compost available atm. Oh, and those chicken poo pellets! ;D

had a good clear up on the patio and had to water the pots of plants there, they were very dry. My Heucherella Sweet tea is no more, the £$%^& vine weevil got in it, so I've binned it all. Potted up all the bare root perennials I got, all 21 of them, started repotting some of the overwintered plants, I was glad to see my new acer has buds on it, so I've put it in a larger pot (how's yours Steve?)

Got more horse manure and spread on plot 1. Also set out three potatoes 'Maxine' under an 8 inch layer of manure/wood chips to try - saw this on the Back To Eden video and thought it worth a go.
Hoed more weeds off on the allotments then planted out the last of the 'Toughball' onions.
Cleared the pile of accumulated rubbish off the allotments and added to a bonfire which a fellow allotmenteer had going.

Planted out the 25 snowdrops in the green which I got from the Telegraph today, a lot of mine seem to have disappeared over the last year, maybe they rotted in all the rain last summer.

You can guess what I was doing all day with breaks in between. That patch of ground hasn't been cultivated for many years and it's full of large chunks of blue lias rock, stones, roots, and almost worst of all - bindweed roots. I dug and dug and shifted stones...and then managed to get one bag of manure spread and dug in. There's an awful lot more to dig still. I need to ask my husband to mend the fence, too, as I found two rails have come adrift from the posts.

Put down some paving and did a little more work on my border. That kept me busy for most of yesterday. Going to chop up a bit of fire wood today

You will need to send us a photo in the spring when the garden starts growing AJ. I remember the photos you put up when you were starting the landscaping.

Well you did it in spite of your knee. Good for you Lesley and I am glad you felt pleased afterwards. I hope you don't suffer for the exercise tonight.

Geranium you must be super-fit. Doesn't your back suffer? No, I'm not back to full health yet, but I do an hour and then take a short break, and so on. I do get a slight ache in my back from all the bendng, but it seems to be holding out - so far!
