Thanks, floydie. You'll have to think about that in the autumn. In the meantime, watch out for Lidl's offers - they have small pots of bulbs at reasonable prices a little later on. Almost instant colour for you! ;D I have some spring bulbs poking through just waiting on them to flower its so bare out there . I'll be keeping a good look out for anything nice over the year ;D

mine's dead, last year's frost made it very poorly, this year saw it off I have plenty here Grindle. They are small, but seperately planted up last season, so I can send some of these. Same for Geranium. That way you can spend your plant money on something else.

Here's a lovely surprise I had this morning - the first Iris reticulata are in flower. The pigeons have pushed past them and they're a bit bent, but it's still a pleasure to see them! ;D I think they're probably I. ret. 'Harmony'.

When I took Henry out I was amazed to see more of them unfurling their petals in two areas. What an absolute joy! This is the first one from round the ash tree - I know it's called 'Harmony'. There are lots still to come there. I have a whole lot of different ones planted round the three silver birches. This one is, I think, 'Purple Gem'. This group of buds may well open later today - I suspect that they're 'George'.

I just love them, Lou! ;D I've planted another 50 in the narrow border by the front path, and they're all up and (almost) doing.
I think I'll do a post of all the different ones I've collected that are well on the way. I have their named photos from last year. ;D
I bet you'll get a nice surprise very soon when the first one blooms. ;D ;D

It is, Lesley! I'm all frustrated - I've been trying to post a set of pics of Iris reticulata on my garden thread for over an hour, but tinypic won't behave itself. I'll have to try later.
