Well something is eating them Cherry, and I don't know what else it could be.

I do love Hellebores, and those are lovely! @hywel, are there slugs around already? I suppose there must be. My bloomin' snails seem to be all over the place, but are mostly still stuck on walls etc. I found a lot hiding under the ivy when I was ripping it down.

SueA your hellebores look a real picture. They are wonderful plants for no work at all.

I've got active slugs as well @hywel, they love all this damp weather & it's been mild as well for the time of year.

Lovely to see flowers, isn't it. @hywel, I keep finding sleeping snails in wall crevices and under pots! As you know, I don't really suffer from slugs, but when the snails decide to wake up, I'll be ready for the little blighters! I've been trying to get rid of as many as possible when I find them.

I hope you can get rid of as many snails as possible Geranium ! I haven't seen any here recently, although there must be some lurking somewhere but slugs are the worst in this garden at the moment. I dare say the snails will wake up in the spring

Oh I'm so jealous of your beautiful hellebores, SueA, especially that peachy double. Mine have been eaten just a few shoots left popping up I may be able to save. Like Hywel, my slugs seem particularly violent - I think maybe having a small stone patio garden leaves them without much choice of food. Impressed by how far along everyone elses' flowers seem to be - my crocuses are still mostly closed up, and just a few snowdrops popped out. I didn't think Herefordshire had been that much colder this year!

Thanks Bess , I'm sorry that your hellebores haven't done so well, I'm surprised mine don't get eaten down to the ground as well with all the slugs & snails here but they've only got the odd nibble. They say slugs & snails don't like travelling over gravel & stones but yours must have little boots on , to be honest I've seen them crawl over gravel, broken egg shells & seashells here! It seems to have been unusually mild here so far this winter & everything is coming up nicely.

Slugs can crawl over anything. They even crawl over the spines of my cacti

Some Snowdrops and Crocuses ... I've got many clumps of Snowdrops now. I've been buying pots of them every year in a local market. They're crammed full of Snowdrops (unlike the ones you usually see with only about 2 or 3 in a pot)

Went around to mum and dads tonight and too a picture of these Iris 'Katharine Hodgson' on my mobile. I gave them the bulbs last autumn so lovely to see them flowering away. Three clumps in all, just one in pic.
