They're supposed to be delicately scented Raymond but I haven't really noticed as they are at the end of the garden in pots at the moment. I think 'Blue Eyes' & the other 'Eyes' type roses are fairly new introductions @hywel, I like them as they're quite open so bees etc. should like them.

I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't told us, Raymond. I like Venosa Violacea too, @hywel; I have two plants and one always suffers from wilt. This is Campanula 'Iridescent Bells'. I saw it in an open garden last year and sent for three little plants from the RHS. It is a lovely plant - I love it! Rehmannia 'Magic Dragon'. And my new supposedly hardy Antirrhinum ' 'Pretty in Pink'.

pretty Geranium I like the 'pretty in pink' I'm growing Rehmannia elata from seed, I know they are not totally hardy, but it says you can lift them and store in a frost free place so I'll give it a try

Thanks for explaining Raymond
I wonder why one of your Clematises suffers from wilt Geranium, especially since they are the same variety ... Maybe one is in a more suitable spot than the other.
