Well he did win the battle of El Alamein His dog seems well trained too. Not been much gardening on the box lately unless I have missed something. We still get Terry Walton on radio 2 though shaking his seed packets.

Thanks for that info Grindle I didn't know that :-)
Lou we're soon to have Charlie Dimmock back on our screens with a new garden makeover program. Do you still have your allotment?
Sweetpea have you read terry walton's book? I really enjoyed reading about how he grew up - did you know at one time he worked 10 full plots while still at school?

A half plot is still a good size Lou, it still takes a lot of work to get it up and running - but o so worth it for all that fresh produce :-)
I liked Alan titchmarsh when he did the prog of the gardens with a problem corner - but not the rest. I also liked show us your garden that was really good lots of ideas.

No wonder he didn't pass his gce or maybe he did. He makes me smile though as he explains what he is doing for a radio audience. Haven't read his book. I'm old enough to remember Percy Thrower at the magnolias and Arthur Billitt at Clacks Farm. my favourite though was Geoff. Hamilton.

Is Terry Walton the bloke who writes in Garden News? If so, I really like his down-to-earth articles. I will keep an eye out for the book.
I'm not keen on Monty Don either (he has a stinking reputation around here, being a local!) but that program sounds like it might be useful as I have a new, awkward garden. Might have a look, thanks Grindle.

Yes it is that Terry Bess, I like him too, I've got his book somewhere but haven't got around to reading it yet - along with a few dozen others! I'm recording Monty's programme tonight to watch in peace, to be honest I wasn't mad about the first series but I will give it a try again, it's interesting to see other people's ideas.

He's not my favourite either, but I reckon any gardening on tv at the moment is a bonus. It was much the same as the first series, ok ish but nothing to rave about. GW starts on 4th March, but I'm waiting for proper stuff with Beechgrove

I liked the big dreams prog especially the overgrown allotment what a workload that was - the transformation was fab - Lou you would know all the hard work that went into that transformation - phew I was exhausted just watching her! :-))))
