I forgot about liverworts as well, another interesting 'plant', I think it's actually a liverwort growing with the agapanthus seedling pot now I think about it, must go & have a proper look.

I love Liverworts - pretty little plants, and they creep away in damp places I had lots of them when I lived in the old cottage but up here there aren't many. I found some in a pot with an indoor asparagus last week and I put them outside to get rain. I'll try to take a photo tomorrow (if it stops raining for a minute !)

Interesting pics daisy I would think the brown 'rust' is probably caused by algae. There's a green one called Pleurococcus. I remember it from school (one of the few things I do remember lol)

When Moira and Jeremy were married on Isle of Skye 2 years ago, I picked branches of lichen on the way down from a ruined castle and the guests picked foxgloves and other wildflowers, and I put 1 foot pieces down the centre of each table. The tables looked gorgeous. Unfortunately, the Canadians picked some orchids until I mentioned that this was illegal. They did look pretty though. I really love lichen and stop to admire it on my Scottish walks.
