Hey everyone! How are all your trees doing? In the end I only had two types germinate - the alder buckthorn and then what I thought was dog rose but seems to have turned out to be purple berberis?? My rowans didn't germinate but I have a bunch of baby rowans anyway and I didn't get any holly seedlings.

Most of mine drowned as we had a few weeks of very wet weather after I sowed them & put them outside but I left them & 2 started to come up, it looked like a dog rose & a holly but I think they went back underground/got eaten/died as I can't see any top growth now. I've left them all in little pots just in case anything comes up but only seem to have a lovely selection of lichens & moss!

I'll take some photos later. They are still alive, Shame about yours. I was hoping to get some holly but never mind. I'm not as bothered that the rowan didn't come up though because I had some seedlings of rowan already.

Here they are: the alder buckthorn is obviously what it said it was but the second one is what I had thought was dog rose which looks very much like my purple berberis only a bit less purple. Anyone got any other ideas?

That's strange isn't it ziggy, they don't look like anything they listed in the seeds they sent, they do look a bit like berberis don't they, maybe you'll be able to tell when they get a bit bigger.

Ooh, it's exciting! I do like the surprise element you get sometimes waiting until something gets bigger before being able to identify it.

Ooh, @willow and SueA, do you think it could be green berberis? I just found out that it exists... lol.
