Your Aconitum is rather grand, SueA . Same funny interesting seed head shapes as Aquilegia, too? At least I think that's what I'm thinking of? I've got a bit of colour still too. Excuse me if these photos take a few minutes to get linked properly, still not used to the new host I'm using. A sheltered Salvia The jolliest thing in my garden right now And... This is taking up far too much greenhouse... really do not know what I'm supposed to do with a 'Tropicanna' over the winter lol! I just bought one on a whim from eBay because I'd never seen them so cheap...

Yes Bess I think the aconitum seedheads are very similar to aquilegia. That's a whopping big canna you've got there, looks like you got a bargain! You seem to be adapting well to the different levels in your new garden, looking good.

sweetpea. You do realise that those are Cyclamen persicum forms don't you? They will probably not survive a heavy frost.

sweetpea. You do realise that those are Cyclamen persicum forms don't you? They will probably not survive a heavy frost. I thought they were C. hederifolium but either way, we do not get really bad frosts here. Well, occasionally we do but the fleece will be at the ready.

No, the flowers are the wrong shape for hederifolium. C. persicum will survive in favoured places, but anything less than 5c. is risky for them.

sweetpea. You do realise that those are Cyclamen persicum forms don't you? They will probably not survive a heavy frost. So far one sub zero temperature and wet & windy and they are still looking good but we shall see what this forecasted arctic spell of weather will do to them. watch this space.

I must admit when I see Cyclamen on sale up here I'm sooo tempted to tell folks not to buy them as they aren't either Hederifolium or Coum and they will not survive a Scottish winter, stores really should put the variety on labels.
