Why is the Christmas cactus a 'cheat' ? It's flowering, and it's January ... The thread isn't called 'Flowers and foliage in January except Christmas cactus' lol It's very pretty. I like your Cyclamen in the chimney too I don't think my Hellebores are out yet.

Eli, I meant it seems a bit of a 'cheat' from me as it's an indoor plant & I usually put outdoor plants as I think of the title of the thread with an invisible 'in the garden' on the end in my head! My 'Christmas cactus' doesn't always obey it's name either (even though it's real name is schlumbergera), it did start flowering at Christmas this year though so I was pleased about that!

I didn't realise the flowers and foliage had to be in the garden SueA My eyes are not able to focus on invisible words ... Next time you could take the cactus outside to photograph it Mine are actually outside (meaning not in the house but in a plastic greenhouse by the back door) so they'll probably flower in the spring, if at all this year.

Got a trumpet daffodil on the verge of opening for the last few days. Wisely it has refrained but when it does fully open I'll try and remember to take a pic. mind you it is quite early days yet.

Lots of foliage and flowers around right now.....snowdrops, hellebores, witch hazels, osteospermums, etc etc. Foliage from arum lilies, heathers, conifers, phormiums, euonymous varieties, eucaluptus, solanum, evergreen variegated agapanthus, evergreen grasses and sedges plus brilliant red cornus stems and more. Although a miserably wet winter so far it has been mild
