My helleborus are very slow to get going this year. Last year this time I had a lot more going on in the borders. Mum (t'other side country) is saying the same thing, so I guess it must be the colder weather this year. I forgot I'd put these in the greenhouse to dry out last week, and these had popped out yesterday 'Bluenote' - aren't they a nice ink blue? Got a nice display by the front door too right now. Like the red and the stripey grasses, they stand out well. I admit most the primroses are bunged in straight from Morrisons or elsewhere for some quick colour the last week or two

I grow several hellebores and they have settled into early and later flowering mode. So some are already over 40 cm, some (flowering buds) just emerging from the soil and others in between. Variety, position and localised soil make a difference I think. Mulching, if thick, will delay flowering too
