working next to a large sarcoccoca bush today and, wow! What a fragrance. It's been there for several years now and I have it shaped as a tall cone just after flowering....prob 6' x 5'. Lonicera Winter Beauty and hamamellis Pallida Mollis are flowering too but I have to say the sarcoccoca is tops for scent right now. A couple of daphnes to open out as well as Edgeworthia so January isnt such a bad old month after all! What is your favourite for winter scent in the garden?

I have a little sarcocca plant in a pot near the side door of the house & it does have a lovely scent & the blackbirds come right up to the door to eat the berries too. I don't have any daphnes at the moment but I do love their scent in the winter, there is a large one in a garden in Didsbury which is beautiful, not sure which variety but gorgeous scent.

There are different varieties but, as far as I'm aware, they all have scent. I even have a couple of smaller plants, on in a pot by back door, that smell beautifully Perhaps you have a poor clone Eli ..?? Remember it has a stronger scent away from the plant itself......it wafts around the garden

It's in the front garden near the way in. Maybe it's just me who can't smell it.
