I see a lot of Celandines around here, too. It's a shame they spread so much everywhere as the flowers are such a bright buttercup yellow! They look so cheerful!
I don't have any on our balcony but I have felt tempted to get some! They should be easier to control in pots anyway. I hope, Geumlover, your hands get better soon. Thanks. There are different forms of Celendine. I have double yellows, green, white, double white, orange. Sadly the only place which sold them has stopped so I cannot get any of the other 150 or so named forms.

Stupidly I have now managed to damage the thumb on my left hand. Even doing up a zip is painful and as for holding a fork to eat. Sheesh. Done nothing outside today, too cold and so windy it is hard to stand up. Finished editing a story. Sadly I have no more to work on and no ideas for a new one.

Took some more celandines out from under the Holly hedge. Painful. Took half the bags to the recycling place. Potted up some Lewisia seedlings and potted on some Primula Oxlips. Hands too bad to do much more. Came in an edited a story.

Celandines removed, well as much as one can. Now I can wait a few days and do it all again for the ones which I missed. Really only trying to reduce the numbers and to stop them seeding around. Watered all the plants in pots, that takes a few hours.

Slowed down on the celandine removal as it is making my hands so bad. Still about 5 sq m to go . More book revision. Hopefully my editor will have moved house soon and can get round to preparing the ones I have for publishing.

More celandines removed. About 10 sq m still to go, but the pain in my hand is too much now so had to stop. Worked on the next book for relaxation.

3 more big buckets of celandines dispatched. The hori-hori knife is really good as long as I don't slice up the snowdrop bulbs!

On my fifth bucket of Celandines from the one part of the garden where they are rampant. The Japanese trowel thing is really good for digging them out. Hori-hori knife. Had to stop as the arthritis is bad now.

Dull, but not that cold. Not as warm as they forecast though. Walked ok.

Read somewhere about a woman finding a huge rat in her bathroom. Well the other night (early morning actually as it was light) I got up to go to the toilet and found, not a rat the size of a cat, but a cat the size of a rat. Jemma is tiny and she was curled up between the toilet and the wall. Made me jump when she squeaked I can tell you.

Bit dull, but mild. Good long walk this morning. Out again this afternoon. Dozen eggs from the farm.
