Same here, Grindle, no breeze at all and gets very hot here, my back garden is baked all day long and the further back you go the hotter it gets - love it, bring it on ππ

This isn't my own image but it could be. Like this image shows one on a Cistus flower, the one i saw was on one of my Cistus, here. They're a creepy looking thing, very small at about 4mm and it had a buff tailed bumble bee in its mouth/grips ..... apparently they'll take on prey much larger than itself by injecting their own 'venom' into the poor thing. My sister saw a lot of them last summer in their garden but this was the first time i'd seen one, i don't want to see another one if it means they catch all my, various, bees π π€¬

Too cold to do much except shiver. Golly, whereabouts are you ? It's 16C most days recently down here, guessing you're further north then ?

Really Eli ? Does anyone elses Hibiscus do it ? They/re everywhere, including in some pots that 3 others are in and I spotted 1 in a pot that a Lavatera is in ! I'm intrigued to see what becomes of them, i'm going to take some and pot them up but leave most in the ground where they are.

I've a bit more to add now !
Someone else in the street has a silver birch with these same characteristics and has been told that, in the not too far future, his tree will need to come down for safety's sake as these deep crevices have eaten into and circled the base (forming a hole you can put your hand in) and will become very unstable.
He has a tree surgeon in every 2nd year to crown it and this guy warned the neighbour of this instability.
Keith, i'm grateful for your link to the bark but wondering how different tree experts can have such differing views on the subject, i'm open to all input so feel free to enlighten further.

Rain, and friend now got Shingles, means i'm not going, maybe the spring one - that one is always a very cold day though, the autumn one's always warmer hence my favoured choice.

No speed problems now this morning, I think one reason is it's possibly my location in the town, and, at evenings and mornings are usually okay.
