Close but no cigar geumgrower! 😁 I planted out a couple of primulas which I bought from the local florist in 2 of the hanging baskets which were looking empty & watered all of the baskets & pots, despite the damp air we've not had enough rain to keep them moist enough.

Cold, dull & breezy yesterday but a little bit of sun. Similar today, sun one minute, black cloud the next with damp in the air & cold.

I spent a few hours tackling down around & in the pond area yesterday afternoon. Cut down most of the old foliage, some 6/7ft tall, just leaving a few bullrushes in the centre of the pond for now as they look good, filled the council green waste bin. The sparrows who live in the old dead ivy stump beside the pond were chirping away at me as they didn't like me removing some of their cover but it will grow back soon. Fished some of the stinking gunk out of the pond as well & left that on the side in case there were any pond snails etc. in it - the blackbird was rifling through it as soon as I moved though! 😊

Thanks balc2 & grindle, I'm surprised at how well the hellebores that got through winter are doing & the crocuses along the edges of the lawn - although I have lost some of the crocuses which were at the wetter far end of the garden. The snowdrops are all going over now & there didn't seem to be as many of them as usual so I may buy some more 'in the green' ones.
