Looking good johndoe thanks for sharing with us. It is nice to see how other growers do things especially when they grow different classifications. Take care

Hi Derek, I hope and your family are well. Which variety of cabbage and cauliflower have you planted this time please? I have decided that it is time I learnt to over winter crops and I would like to try both.
Take care

You are probably wondering what has happened to me since weekend. I went to hospital on Monday for some tests but the doctor decided to keep me in and I only came home this afternoon but it is nothing serious .We went for a walk this evening and I will be back to my gardening jobs tomorrow. I am glad you are ok Derek.

Thank you everyone. A lovely way to finish a very busy day teaching 12 lovely children at school. The sun is shining and all is well in my little bubble

So for my birthday today I went outside earlier to see what has opened and I am so pleased that Birkenshaw Garden friends has opened. Tel is often in my thoughts when I see this dahlia. We also have Summit Festival, Lancresse, Union Jack and Jon's Twilight and Carol's Spanish Dancer open at home in the general garden area (show stuff not yet ) I am looking forward to seeing what else has opened at school/work, only Jon's Twilight last week so what will today bring. Enjoy your dahlias everyone whether garden or show types

After we had been for a walk this afternoon we went to school then I could feed and see to the tomatoes. I decided to take Rosemary because she worked at the school for over 30 years and since she retired she went to listen to children reading for 18 years but she had never seen the school gardens where we grow veg and the polytunnel. I also wanted to show her the prayer garden which is nice. While I fed the tomatoes she removed the side shoots . I also put more ties on them and then planted 4 broad beans in one of the beds. I went to Blackleach this evening and planted the border which I finished weeding yesterday. After, I did some tidying up of the herb wheel. This is a lovely post to read, working in a school as I do and leading the reading, organising 2 libraries and an online book quizzing scheme it is super to hear the support that Rosemary has given children to help them read for so many years. Reading is so important in life and I know she will have made a huge difference to many. From me for them THANK YOU ROSEMARY

Hi johndoe yes we are fairing well here other than the heat. I hope to plant out main plot in the next week. with our cuttings being a little later than some of you growers with more advanced set ups I just want the plants to be a touch bigger before they face the cornish stony ground we have. I am pleased with what we have and hope to time the main plants for September onwards. We shall see lol. Take care

It is so hot here this morning I have had to come in. I have planted out a dozen new varieties of collerette and single dahlias this morning that have come from a generous friend and Halls of Heddon and this afternoon I will plant out the rest of our collerettes that we have taken as cuttings. With the ones we left in the borders overwinter we now have about 50 collerettes and singles. This is ideal because our neighbour has just bought a beehive so Hopefully this will help him.

We try to leave the flowers in the lawn for the pollinators. It is so hot here this morning I have had to come in.
