Can any one help this is the second year of getting white fly on my tomatoes in the greenhouse I put marigolds around the bottom of them also hanging yellow sticky strips, has any one got any ideas on what I can do for next year ?? Lesley - give biological control a try - it works for me. Amazon do a course of 4 for £10.00 - they send 5 cards that you hang among your plants . the tiny Encarsia wasps then parasitise the white fly eggs.It takes a couple of cards to start working when you will see the eggs have turned black. If you use biological control you can't use insecticides as well though .Hope this helps

esther I am getting a tad excited because finally on Friday I go to order my first ever greenhouse. I have been saving like mad for this moment. There won't be much at first after the big expense and saving to buy shelving etc but I hope to learn how to take more cuttings and divide more so one day I may have my borders full...i have taken my first rose cuttings this weekend, so Ive started my collection!! happy days and fingers crossed Friday goes to plan! Cat - how exciting! I can remember how excited I was when my hubby built me my first greenhouse I still get a big buzz from my greenhouses over 30 years later

Libra lady - it sound s like your garden will look beautiful for your afternoon tea - I wish you lots of success and hope you raise loads of money. We decided not to open for the NGS this year as we had so much going on last year and need a little break.

It is amazing that Lily is nearly 10 now esther, like Rosie I still remember her as a tiny little thing who is the image of her grandma! That operation is expensive but from the children I've seen on the local news who've had it done it's well worth the money. The poor bairn .

Hello Moonlight . I am not famous - I do love my greenhouses though! I don't find watering a chore and enjoy it so I don't have any watering systems in place - sorry to be boring I will tell my daughter that you are not famous.
How long does it take to water during the summer? p.s. Not boring at all - how on earth could you be boring with greenhouses like that? I am trying to keep my girls interested in the gardening that they do but also with the bigger picture but I don't want it to become a chore. One daughter is keener than the other and I want to nurture that aspect but at the same time the other daughter loved the bright colours but I need her to understand that it's not some kind of magic wand - you need to work at it and I don't want to nag her to do things.
Moonlight - I usually spend about an hour and a half each day watering - that includes the many pots ,baskets and my 3 greenhouses.not every plant in my pot plant greenhouse needs watering every day but I do check them. If you daughter wanted some easy plants to look after and likes coloured foliage I would love to send her some cuttings from my coleus - I have 3 varieties . I also have a couple of cuttings of Streptocarpus saxorum and Trailing fuchsia Puts Folly to spare.thses plants are all easy to grow
