I thought I would have a nice curry with rice tonight but when I opened the bag (admittedly had for a couple of months) I was met with these little critters! Some of the grains were completely tunnelled out and quite hollow. God knows how many others have a little grub inside Cheese and crackers tonight. Can't be bothered to cook now....

Not good. I love my wildlife as long as it keeps away from my food. Mind you I am partial to cheese and crackers too so not all is lost ;D You do have a decent red to go with them

No, but I do have a bottle of Stella Artois Cidre (Cider). That'll do for tonight....

I do a Ruby most Saturday nights but never bother to check the rice for creatures. Have seen them in the past though. Makes you wonder what sort of creepy crawlies we have all inadvertantly eaten over the years.

Funny I was thinking that the other day Sweetpea! I often rip a leaf off Sorrel when down the garden and chew it (love the acidy flavour) also rocket and numerous fruits, berries, I wonder what is smaller than the eye can see especially when eyes start getting dim!
I just hope stomach acid is good and strong! ;D

Steve, if you put a lot of dried bay leaves in and mix it with the rice, it would drive the weevils away. Just remove the bay leaves when you intend to use the rice. It helps to tear up the dried bay leaf in half to release the scent before you put it in. That's how we store our rice here. If you don't have bay leaves, peeled garlic cloves work as well, another option is dried chili peppers.
