Thanks Suea - there were used at a puppy farm and just bred from - when they stopped producing large litters they were "got rid of". Pip has a heart condition but it does not bother her too much.

I wouldn't get that lucky G, they take no notice of me, they are a damn nuisance, raiding the pond, digging everywhere, they got in the greenhouse a couple of weeks ago as I forgot to shut the door and knocked all my seedlings off that had been pricked out, I didn't find them until the next day...too late

This is an age old story. I noticed on Springwatch I think where cats are very restricted in suburban areas of Australia and Canada. In my case, a cat is necessary and neither this nor the last cat were after birds. There are too many rabbits and field mice around here.
