I was told the name of this plant by the Head gardener at an open garden yesterday - but googling it hasn't helped, nor is it in any of my books or the Plantfinder. He wrote it down as Lactuca bourgaei. Each stem is tall - I'd say over 6', with the blue clusters of flowers at the top. Please does anyone know what it is?  |

Yes, I believe so, from all my googling. It was being used as an ornamental plant in the garden we went to, though! It looked amazing. ;D I'd love to grow it. Any ideas?

I've seen these growing wild near here - a big area of them by the roadside. They are very pretty. Would you like me to collect some of the seeds for you Geranium ?    |

They were in flower several weeks ago so there should be some there now. |

Ooh, missed this id. One of my favourite Dandelions/Chicories!
The guy who said it was a Lactuca wasn't far wrong as the Lettuces are closely related. I have grown Lactuca perennis from seed with blue flowers.
