if it is the botanical name mentioned before it is a blue sowthistle. chicory is a different plant. Still a blue daisy type thing. sorry, part brain dead at the mo. work and all that sucking my life blood etc.

Please can anyone ID this plant? I've been watching its progress for a few weeks - and it's in flower now. It has one straight stem, and stands about 3' tall in all. First the flowers: Then the leaves.

is it a form of chicory? or am I way off? I can see why you say that because i have Cichorium intybus 'roseum' here and the flower is very similar indeed.

I really don't know - but the pics I've seen don't match up. How did it get in the border, anyway? Birds?
It is a pretty 'weed', anyway. ;D
