I haven't found one this year. Could I be speaking too soon I had dozens of lily beetles earlier, and then nothing for ages, now in ones and twos. I hate them and would not extend my lily collection because of them.

Whoo-hoo! That orange one is an amazing colour. It would be just right for my hot border. ;D I like the pink one, too. my plant man sells them cheaply, would you like me to pick some up back end of the year?

Should I lift last year's lilies out of their pots and replant with fresh potting compost? Perhaps they can be left as they are, but I should think the flowers would not be as spectacular as they were in the summer.

I would suggest this is a job for next spring...just before growth starts again. Mine have been in their pots for 3 seasons now and are due for rejuvenating next year.

Thanks Lou. I will doctor them up a bit by taking out the top of the compost to replace with fresh and using fertilizer.

Remember to still feed your lilies once the flowers are gone, it helps the flower bud for next season.

It has turned out a huge job because I found that the mice are eating through the compost bags, so I had to deal with that. I have repotted all last year's lilies, including the baby lilies, so these won't go on show, but now must go out into the heat and start on this year's lilies.

Sounds like very warm work indeed....I am going to "play safe" and re-pot mine in the spring, as I suggested.....

I had a plague of lily beetles in late summer so I am going to repot quite a few lilies into fresh compost before they go into the cold greenhouse
