Oh no Rosie. Younger son has just left stinking hot Norfolk to fly to Inverness. He will pick up his car at Elgin and reach The Hovel in Aberdeen this evening.

Strange our thermometer keeps reading in the mid 30s up to 12ish, don't know if its dodgy or if its due to us being high up, open & on lots of concrete . Anyway its hot again and far to hot to do any gardening in fact we've been inside most of the day with the windows open!

Our thermometer in the back garden reads in the thirties too Floydie because it's in the sun in the south facing garden, doesn't matter what the official temperatures are that's how hot it is in our garden! ;D Yesterday was 'Phew', today is 'Gasp!'

Yes, the thermometer's right, mine in the front garden sunspot read 39.5 earlier. I've just looked at what it is in the bedroom and it's 26 .... another broken nights sleep because i'll be too hot ;D Just think of our heating bills being nice and low to start the winter off ;D

This is just like Australia. It gets dark early there, but still stays warm. The birds are even sounding similar because the birds here now are the ones which screech. Swans have already flown over and are getting noisy, the pheasant roost in my trees and the crows were noisy this morning. There was also a young owl which hoots every night, but also early morning.
