Its all change this morning, mild and the sun is shining. Some much needed rain overnight Wow, Peony, we certainly don't need rain down here! Everywhere is soggy. It's mild today, with cloud and a breeze.

Love it Grindle! Same here this morning but now it's just dry & grey, supposed to rain later tonight again but at least it's 'slightly' warmer!

The date of the equinox does vary. I learnt about it at primary school. I really do believe school was better in the old days.
It is raining here. The dogs and I get a great shock when we have to go out in the rain. We are not used to it.

You are not alone Steve, I thought the shortest day was always on the 21st. The link grindle put up makes a lot of sense. We always have friends round on the winter solstice (any excuse for a party ) I'm going to keep quiet about the date being wrong ;D
