I've been given this seed pod and told that it comes from a climbing plant with a pink/purple pea type flower. Although the photo doesn't show it very well, the pod is a dark purple colour. I've looked on the internet and I think it might be Lablab (Dolichos purpureus) but I'm not sure and wondered whether any of you have grown it?

Hyacinth bean Ive got pink and purple seeds to grow next year. Apparently you can eat the beans if cooked right if not they are poisonous.

Not sure i would , Ive just had a quick read up on the net, the way to cook them is to boil with the lid off for a long time and keep changing the water, also discarding the water when serving. Think I'll just enjoy them as a decorative vine .

I have definitely posted about this plant before with pictures. I think it was on the old forum though.
