Hi all - I'd like to bring to your attention a newly bred Kordes rose. It's called 'Engelsgesicht ('Angelface' in English). . At the moment, it's only available in Germany, and won't be sold in the UK, as Kordes has decided to concentrate on the USA market, but on another site I visit, a member who lives out in Germany has been offered the opportunity of sending 20 plants to the UK via one of the UK members, who will send them on. It's a repeat flowering floribunda rose, in shades of cream/amber/pink. It's disease resistant, fragrant and very free-flowering. It can be grown in a container or straight in the soil. One of the members chose the name, and as a prize, was sent the rose two years ago - she's thrilled with it. Why am I telling you all this? Well, she has orders for 12 at the moment, so there are currently 8 still available. I'm having one and so is Lou. If you're interested, I can tell you the link so you can see this lovely rose in bloom. Do please let me know if you'd like one - opportunties of having such a rose don't come along very often, after all!

I have not seen it and don't want one at present, but if it is a Kordes rose it will be good and the leaves will be shiny and healthy looking. It is available in Australia, so it is not just Germany.

That's interesting, Cherry. I can't imagine why Kordes doesn't want to market it over here too. It really is a lovely rose. I'm looking forward to getting mine! Pity, Grindle - you'd like it.

Yes, if I get one, I'll certainly post a photo. It does indeed look lovely, from what I've seen. I just wondered if anyone might like one - but space is always a problem, I realise.

Yes, it can. The lady who chose the name has hers growing happily in a large pot and it's been there for two years. I was trying to add a link to a photo of the rose but it didn't work. I'll have another go. Oooh! That's better. Now, isn't that a beauty?

It certainly is gorgeous. Our contact in Germany says it is only available in Germany atm....there are other roses with a similar names available worldwide...the one that comes up when you google is not this one....this one is very new.......the names are often changed when marketed in other countries....it can be confusing

Am I right in that in America all roses have to be registered and that here it's based on a Gentleman's agreement. Often the name has a slight addition/alteration.....yes all confusing.

Classic Roses have advised that they will not be stocking this rose as their collection has become too large.
