When did it lose its leaves Joysie? I presume you know that its a deciduous tree and loses its leaves in the autumn usually after they colour orange to red. Did it lose its leaves earlier in the growing season?

Something strange...... Why does this post say thread started at 11.05pm? Now I know that neutrinos are able to travel faster than the speed of light but?.....
......I guess I need to change a time setting?

Joyce....if you scrape back a little of the bark, I'm sure you will see some green

I have an Amelachier lamarkii in my garden and I don't think there is a leaf left on it now. come to think of it, there is hardly a leaf on any tree now, (the deciduous ones of course)

The leaves on my new Amelanchier fell off quite a while ago.

The leaves on my 2 Amelanchiers that are in pots have dropped too. Like Lou said Joysie, just scrape a wee bit of bark back with your finger nail, if it's green underneath, it's alive, if it's brown it's probably a goner.

Being near a fence is fine too and if it outgrows (spreads) too far, it can be pruned back. The flowers are generally in April though if yours is young it may be another year or two before it starts.
