So last month I had some extra money in my Paypal account after shopping for presents and I decided to buy me some seeds on Ebay. I've forgotten to specify DHL or FedEx or UPS shipping for all of my purchases and so 2 weeks later most of my parcels that came in through the old snail mail were a disappointment. The post office goes through the parcels as a routine customs inspection for items shipped from overseas. The problem? Most of my seeds packets had been nicked!!! One package I had about 2 dozen sunflower seed packets and only 4 were left. And the other one was for dahlia seeds and out of 10 seed packets I ended up with just 2.

Were they nicked or confiscated, it is surprising what goes missing here while been delivered. There is thieving in a lot of companies, there were quite a few staff sacked and prosecuted where i worked over the years.

How very very disappointing, i'd be furious too Corruption is rife at post offices aswell as foreign airports, i've experienced it Will you be able to re-do the order and use the specific shippers again ?

You'll have to complain, won't you - I do hope you get compensated if they were stolen.

That's a shame Jrae, I could see maybe that 1 or 2 packs may have been taken & opened just to check exactly what was in them but that many does seem suspicious. The only other thing is maybe they could have been sealed badly after inspection & some fallen out but then you would have noticed the packages being open? It makes you wonder why people would bother to take them though, it's not as though they would be worth a great deal of money, maybe there are some gardeners in your post office! You could always check with who you bought them from to make sure they sent the full amount & if they did they may be able to claim from the post office & forward you a refund. I've had to claim a few times for things I've sent to people in this country which have arrived damaged or with things missing, over here it's the sender who has to claim.I know when my sis. in Australia & I send each other parcels you have to write on them what they contain but I don't think they ever get opened to check.

Highly doubtful that that would do any good, they'd probably deny any knowledge. I suspect that Jrae will just have to write it all off

It's still worth complaining - Jrae, you might just strike lucky.

Sorry to hear this upsetting news, I agree it may be difficult to get the carriers to compensate but I would certainly complain to the people you bought them from. We live in peculiar times, and have to do peculiar things to curtail drug distribution. Hope you get some seed in time for sowing.

I would complain also, email the seller/s to let them know whats going on (you may need proof of postage etc) id also print off the listing so you have proff of what should have been in the packets.

One of the things I've found out when I moved here was that no amount of filing a complaint against the post office and customs guys will do any good. I'll just have to wait a bit and buy the seeds again. By next month I'll have a new gardening fund so I'll just buy again. Why do I have to wait? Well my hubby and I decided to set aside a fixed amount I can spend on my gardening addiction since if he lets me have my way all the time we'll end up broke

Never mind then jrae, next month isn't far away now! Sensible husband, I think I'd find a way of 'cheating' on the gardening money though, put the sunflower seeds down as food in the housekeeping! ;D
