My cheques cleared today for the dahlia society, I joined for the first time and have also ordered the rings and a book. Just need to get some vases and then I will be all set, oh yes and then just the small matter of getting the flowers grown ready lol All the local shows i attend provide vases, have you checked to see if you really need to provide your own? Oh and welcome to the NDS Most of the shows do but there is one that I went to last year that dont provide vases, lst year was ok as I borrowed a friends but they have moved to Scotland now, hence I got my allotment but no vases

Well my first tubers came today i have Procyon, Atlantic city, Akita, Fire & Ice & Gypsy Night. One of them has a small shoot, some of them have also broken up abit, will the small broken bits grow? Is it too late to start them off for cuttings?

Like my star pupil says the broken bits will not produce anything, unless they have part of the stem attached.

I am just flabbergasted at how many different Dahlias there are! I have quite a few this year (all your fault, you experts!) but I don't think that any of them have been mentioned on the forum.

I only grow the show dahlias, Except for one garden dahlia i bought last year called Windmill, that one did not turn out like it said on the pkt, so it was left in a pot outside all winter. That dahlia has now gone to dahlia heaven.

I only grow show ones too....apart from the likes of Twinings after 8 etc.,.......there are so so many different garden varieties....many more than the "heinz varieties"....lol......you will of course be letting us see pics of yours when they flower ;D
