I have some old soluble fertiliser for my house plants under the kitchen sink which is I think is from Wilkinson's. It is in an old laundry liquitab container and has gone into a green thick soup. I have been using this, but I suspect some of the nutrients have gone over this time. Should I still rely on this or buy new?

You didn't give me a reason Lou, but I feel sure you are right. I will mix it up and give it to the outside plants. Waste not ......

Oh I saw in the telly sometime ago that old fertilizer is still good enough for the lawn, apparently stuff gets lost in the long run but it would still be okay for the grass.

Thanks Jrae. That did make me laugh though because my lawn is just field grass which is mown and now looks quite good.

My lawn is the same, we did try to get some bermuda grass established but it couldn't compete against the ornamental peanut and rain lilys that ran wild when the property was still for sale back then. Now we just mow the entire thing and just enjoy the rain lilies that pop up when it rains

In tropical Queensland the grass is a green lily grass related to ophiogon. It is very coarse and still rather nice. There does not seem to be a weed problem. One of my daughters just hacks back the jungle because of snakes. She loves her ginger lilies which are not native.
I have used nearly all the wet fertiliser in the huge tubs lining the drive. It had to be changed for summer plants while it was cool enough.

waste not want not cherry. What you could do is a little experiment to see if it`s still viable.

I tend to use almost anything that has passed it's sell by date. Whether it be for the garden or me. In fact last night I took two codeines which were prescribed over 18 months ago. funny how some things are better after aging, like wine etc. and other things don't last well at all. Maureen hides her chocolates and then forgets where they are. Eventually I find them all mouldy or so it seems. They still go down the hatch and I'm still here to tell the tale.
