Thank you, Peony. I'm still creaking and moaning (a bit) I'm afraid. It is improving, but slowly. I'm glad you like the new planting.

Glad you like it - it's a new departure for me, as I tend towards the pink/mauve side normally. ;D

A bit of a change but definitely a good one. Lots of bee and butterfly flowers in there

Yes, and if I get the Salvias, there'll be even more! Thanks, Wf. It's certainly a change.

What do you mean, 'AFTER' the pain? My back's still hurting, Tel! It's getting better actually, and thank you - it was worth all the effort.

Well - I had to ring the RHS to ask why I hadn't heard from them about the Juniper samples I sent them. They said they'd sent a letter out on July 28th, but they'd re-send it. It arrived today, and they can't be definite, but they found 'secondary fungi' on the brown sample. They suggest two possibilities to explain the death of the Juniper - Honey Fungus or Phytophthora. They sent a leaflet on each, and said that if I was still unsure what had killed it, I should send them root and soil samples. It's a bit late for that! I do know it wasn't Honey Fungus, luckily, so presumably it was Phytophthora.

I told you that my birthday present from OH was a driftwood scupture - well, he fixed it into place on the scree bed this morning. Here 'tis. This is the first one he got for me, which is much bigger. It's against the side wall of the side garden, in my fernery. Since this photo was taken, I've planted ferns all round its base.
