I'm finding the spade I've been using for the last 20 years (inherited from OH's dad) is getting too heavy for me now and I'm looking for one which is lighter. Any recommendations?

I love my Spear & Jackson border spade which I won in a radio competition. It looks good and has a guarantee (I have forgotten how many years; 10 I think). It has a beautiful wooden handle, so it feels great and it is light. I won't lend it to anyone, and when I pass my old spade over to any helper, I can't believe I used this until I was 62 years old. The Spear & Jackson is expensive and cheaper ones might be just as good. I don't know.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'll google my nearest suppliers for both the Draper and Spear & Jackson spades and go have a look

A spade with a fiberglass handle is very easy to work with Peony, don't know who sells fiberglass types at your place but google might help.
