I have got some water lilies and i don't have a pond (yet), i have put them into a supplied planter and into an old huge water tank. But the water is turning green, i have no idea about ponds and their maintainence so i thought i would turn to my lovely friends to ask their advice on how to keep the water clear. I only have the lilies in the water as i didn't know what else to buy

:)you probably need some type of oxygenator Rosie, it's quite normal for the water to turn green, other than that you can probably get something to clear the water from the GC if you ask www.shopwiki.co.uk/l/Pond-Doctor-Green-Water-Treatmentthere's quite a few here to give you some idea

Grindle's advice is tops Rosie, but if you don't have fish (yet) and wouldn't mind taking out the lilies for a bit, a hydrogen peroxide solution available at pond supply outlets would work really well with your oxygenator/aerator. Keep the aerator running for about a week after that you can put the plants (and maybe fish) back in. I think for green water the dosage is one 500 mL bottle of 3% hydrogen peroxide per 100 gallons of water. When we get string algae together with the green water we use the 10% bottle.
