leaves on roses have gone black in my sisters garden they all look unhealthy and they are the david austin ones as well what can she put on them her garden has got overgrown as shes unable to cut the lawn and keep the borders tidy
any advice welcome i told her to put the washing up water suds over the buds

It depends on what's wrong. Maybe a rose spray would help if the problem is black spot. If it is, she'll need to clear away and destroy any fallen leaves - not in the compost bin!
Now's the right time to feed the roses, too - either blood, fish and bone, or a rose feed.

I would say it sounds like black spot too, and def follow Geraniums advice with disposal of the leaves and a feed. If you spray with rose clear it should be done early morning or late evening as it can affect bee's.
