The extra rain has made the shoots of the winter flowering yellow jasmine very long so that they are encroaching right across the path. It is a regular route to the outside tap and will be used by the window fitters. It is always admired, so I am loathe to cut it down almost to the trellis level. Would it work if I shortened it to a sensible length and tied it in to the trellis or should I cut it back as it would still flower on, say, 8 in stems. It must be good to talk about it, because the answer has unfolded now. I should cut it back as it will still be yellow and eye catching, but (new for me) neat.

I was somewhat shocked yesterday, because I noticed that mine has started flowering!

I forget from year-to-year when it does actually start flowering. Calling it 'Winter Jasmine' is a bit deceptive.
