I wouldn't go to them even if they were not cancelled.
What's the panic for toilet rolls ? If you catch the virus it will give you a high temperature and a dry cough … so toilet rolls won't be of any help will they ?

At least I've been getting plenty of exercise walking from shop to shop locally trying to find one with something on the shelves! If the weather picks up a bit at least we'll be able to do some gardening & go for walks. There has been a huge surge of people buying veg./salad etc. seeds & plants as I've had emails from gardening companies saying they are packing & delivering as fast as they can & the order I placed online for hedgehog food via Amazon has been cancelled as the company I ordered from ran out, bird food order sizes are even being limited by some companies - I had an email from CJ Wildlife foods saying they were limiting bulk orders!

it's getting a bit silly isn't it SueA I managed to get my order off ebay I use the same company alot and they've been pretty good, also managed to get Dylan's dog food, so at the moment I'm pretty well set, whether I'll be able to order next month is a different matter.

Sometimes you have to think a little bit out of the box, we have had people queuing with trolleys outside local supermarkets waiting for them to open, A local paper shop I go to every morning always has shelf’s full of bread, eggs, milk! Ok a bit dearer but it lets you support your local small shop

I've found that around here too steve, I've not been anywhere near the big Tesco & Lidl stores near us but have been going to the Nisa & 'Pound & more' shops I usually go in which have had a fair bit of stock but more people are now raiding them as well! I managed to get some hedgehog food yesterday grindle when we went to a couple of garden centres, they were fairly quiet as the cafes in them were closed & they are usually packed with 'over 70s' customers, I'd had an email from one (Fryers) in the morning with a voucher for 'buy one get one free' on compost (I got New Horizon), free gardening gloves if you spent £20 & other offers so enjoyed the trip. We went for a walk around nearby Lymm as well along the canal etc. but we were disgusted to see a grey-haired middle aged guy who was parked near the library there with the back of his car open & stuffed full of toilet rolls which he looked like he was trying to sell, he was there when we arrived & still there when we left so was possibly trying to profit from the situation!

we have 4 local shops, and they are all working their socks off to keep the village supplied, really have to admire them all now it looks like beer wines and spirits are going to be the next hard to get things as the bars and pubs shut.. The National Trust and RHS have today shut their gardens completely, smart move

That is terrible SueA. I am ok for toilet paper, because I always buy boxes it from Amazon. I don’t want to walk up the road with these bulky items. Moira was so worried about me, that she booked my fare to Australia on the last Qantas flight tonight. However, Qantas and the Aust Govt contacted me yesterday morning and gave me the chance of cancelling if I want to. I felt as if I was being bulldozed into it and cancelled. Moira and Jeremy are disappointed, but my sons think it was sensible. A load was lifted from my shoulders and I feel much better. I FaceTimed to let her know and she was out to dinner. On the way back, she said I must cover Hattie’s legs in case she gets bitten. That’d reminded me about how uncomfortable everyday life is there. My only disappointment was that they were business class seats because the plane was not full.

I can see why Moira would have thought you would be safer with her Cherry as they are fairly isolated on the island but if you wouldn't be comfortable there with the weather etc. & are happy over here with your sons to look out for you then it was the right decision for you, just take care & don't go out where there are lots of people although it looks like none of us will be going out soon if the 'lockdown' comes into force. We went for a walk of about 5 miles around the local moss yesterday as there are usually hardly any people on it but we even saw one or two families up there & cyclists, we all said 'Hi' to each other but kept our distance.
