it may be just the pedant in me but I do get put out when the wrong term is used. Seeds are SOWN not planted. When your seeds have sprouted and grown into plants then you PLANT or transplant them. Bulbs, corms tubers etc. are also PLANTED. It is understandable when newcomers to gardening use the wrong terminology but there is no excuse for more experienced gardeners. Are you guilty?

I got the heading right, in the dahlia section on Sowing Dahlia Seeds. I had to check though. ;D

I read this post when I was using Fiona's awful computer and could not reply. I like this Sweetpea. I was sent a Garden News in the new magazine format and a whole section was headed with "planting" seeds. The survey asked the questions and left no room for personal thoughts about the magazine. I just had to let it go and wondered about the quality of the garden knowledge and English grammar skills of the writers. Don't we learn this at school?
