It has rained most of the day so I haven't done any gardening jobs but I have ordered my load of manure. It is coming next Saturday morning.

It has rained all day again and hard at times so I just stayed in and carried on with my writing. Before my manure comes on Saturday I would like to go to the allotment and test the pH value of all the beds because if any bed needs liming I need to do it and then wait about a month before I put manure on. Don't know if I can go tomorrow either because it is snowing now.

Rosemary wanted some veg so I went to the allotment for some sprouts. I thought I might do some soil testing as well so I took the equipment that I need. It soon started raining so I just picked some sprouts and came home. The rest of the day was showery so I stayed in doing my writing. I have just finished another article so I am going to type it up now.

A better day today so I was able to go to the allotment and test the pH value of all my beds and this afternoon I have tested my beds at home.

It was snowing this morning so I stayed in. It had stopped by afternoon, though, so we went for our walk round Blackleach.

Not a bad day today. We went a walk with Martyn this afternoon, then I went to Blackleach to update my bird charts with what we saw yesterday. There are no wild flowers out yet but I have made some new charts so I fixed them up on the notice board.

My new shed arrived this morning and was erected in about an hour. I didn't know what time it was coming so while I was waiting I went in the greenhouse and started sowing the first flower seeds. I had hardly done any, though, when it arrived. I then painted it with timbercare. I have several more jobs to do on it which will take me a few days. I have to fix the gutter and pipework which runs the water into a water butt, fix shelves inside and nails on which to hang tools , also the side gate which goes between the shed and the house. Then, of course, I have to put all the things back which are temporarily in my other shed and my larger greenhouse. I will be able to do some of these jobs tomorrow morning for a bit but my manure is being delivered on the allotment about 12.00 so I will have to go there . Because of all these jobs I decided this afternoon to finish sowing the seeds I started this morning. I have sown 2 varieties of bedding lobelia,3 of asters, petunias, salvias, achillea (summer berries), delphinium (dwarf pacific), penstemon (beloved bells), trailing lobelia and lobelia (Queen Victoria).

I can't understand this but the post I made yesterday has disappeared. The same thing happened to one last week. My manure arrived at the allotment yesterday. Before it was time to go to receive and pay for it I started fixing the gutter and pipework on the shed . It was raining in the afternoon so I couldn't finish it. I have finished it today and started fixing shelves up and putting some things back. I am having difficulty finding room because this shed isn't as big as the old one and I think I could do with some more shelves. We went for a walk round Blackleach this afternoon, not to count birds like we do at weekend but just a walk. A new viewing platform has just been made at Blackleach which we think is very good. Went in the greenhouse this morning and sowed some more seeds, some more lobelia and aubergines and some peppers. Working on the shed the rest of the time. Went to the builders merchants for some wood and brackets for more shelves. Had to cut the wood to the right lengths and started putting up the brackets. By the way, I see that paws57 has made some comments on this page. I am glad she has started looking at the forum again, she hasn't been on for a long time. Her and her husband, Steve, are good friends of mine on the allotments.

We went shopping first this morning and went for a walk this afternoon .We have a gate at the side of the house attached to the new shed. When we got home this morning and after the walk this afternoon I have fixed up this gate again. The new shed is a bit further away from the house than the old one so I had to fix a piece of wood on the shed first to fix the gate to. On the picture of the gate I showed you a few days ago you can see where the gate goes and you can see the receiver on the wall where the bolt goes in. Also , 90 gladioli arrived from Parkers and I stood them in trays the right way up and put them on a cupboard in the kitchen.

Went in the greenhouse first and took another 42 chrysanth cuttings. We went a walk this afternoon but I have spent the rest of the time working with the shed. I finished fixing up the shelves and knocked some nails in the side to hang things on. I then started moving things in which have temporarily been stored in the larger greenhouse. I have two hosepipes and they hang on nails , also the shears we use for the lawn (edging shears and some flat ones ) hook onto these nails .The shelves were filled with all sorts of small items such as bottles and tins .

Martyn is having some alterations in his kitchen and he asked me to take a dryer that he doesn't want to the recycling centre. So I went there first and also got rid if some things that I didn't want that were in my old shed .Afterwards I painted the gate that I have put between the shed and the house with wood preservative. While I had got the paint out and my painting overalls on I decided to paint the wooden structure over the chrysanth beds which I attach sheets of polythene to when they are flowering. It hasn't been done for a year or two but I didn't have time to finish it.
