Admittedly filthy windows but looking amazing to my eyes. We are not sure how to go about cleaning because the grott is between each over lapping part of the greenhouse.
Geranium, we have 2 cracked panes and 1 with a bit missing and an opening window so we should have ventilation.
He has decided that his next planned project will be clearing the brambles around the greenhouse away and putting down bark chippings in the end.
Also bought some garlic and a couple of packets of seeds HH left wishing that he had not showed me the packet of lavender seeds on display in the horticultural shop......

It looks BIG! Is it a 10' one? dunno, all I know is it is dirty and I can stand up in the middle and although the door closes it hangs from the top runners rather than together with the lower runner, so it flaps about in the wind a bit (when opened or closed.) but it does not seem to be a wind tunnel. (doubt that makes sense.)

If you can't get the door on its track then use s bungee cord to hold it from blowing around. just hook it from one side to the other.

Bit annoyed because I mid post when the 'post eating monster' (cousin to the sock monster that eats socks in the washing machine - so you find yourself searching for a pair) grrrrrr
Moving on
Went to our horticultural society trading store to buy the garlic bulbs (yes I know that I could use regular shop garlic but I ummed and arhhhed it and decided to buy the HShop one after all). I would have bought 1 but HH said get 2 because I like garlic. So I did. I wanted to get 'garlic bulbs bought for growing' rather than for eating because in my own reasoning both girls have to grow a vegetable for the children's cup. Pirate Yellow Wellies has chosen cabbages and we bought the seeds for her and Pink Fairy Wellies decided in the end that she wanted to grow garlic. I let her pick out 2 garlic bulbs and the plan was when split the cloves, she is going to choose which 3 she wants to grow. The rest are mine.
The lovely lady serving asked the girls if they were going to enter the potato challenge. Big smiles from us all, yes and we have collected our potatoes. Told the lady that our plan was that Fairy Pink Wellies was going to grow garlic for the show and that Pirate Yellow Wellies was going to grow cabbages as her vegetable. The lovely kind lady smiled and said "oo Cabbages are really hard to grow...." I smiled but said 'Don't say that...' Lady said "Yes they need lots of watering, you must not let them dry out." Now Fairy Pink Wellies wants to grow garlic and cabbage. Competitive my daughter, nah, she is just like her Daddy and he isn't competitive either .

Good News: My Dad is going to bring some more pea shingle tomorrow Bad News: He wants to put it in my purple wheelbarrow to take it down the greenhouse.
Poor wheelbarrow.
I know that that is what he is supposed to do but at the moment he's a bit like one of the family looking after my sweet peas. Still he is supposed to be a wheelbarrow not a coffee table.

I know all about the monster that eats posts - it lies in wait until you've typed a long message before it pounces! It's soooooo annoying!
I can only type with two fingers, looking at the keyboard, so I don't see it approaching, either. Grrrrrr....
By the way, each pane in your greenhouse is likely to be 2' wide. How many panes are there along the length of one side? I thought it looked as though there are 5...which is why I asked if it was 10' long! ;D

With the impending visit of my Father and bags of pea shingle my poor little sweet pea babies are going to be evicted. I have warned the girls already that Uncle Sweetpea has told me that they can't live inside the house but need to live outside to get them used to the weather before we plant them.
Now I wanted to put them out into a cold frame on the patio so that we can see them out the patio door windows. HH wanted me to put them in the greenhouse but I am worried that they will become out of sight out of mind. As it now is the girls come downstairs for breakfast but before they sit at the table they always go check on our sweetpeas. (I did say that I had a mad family.)
Pirate yellow wellies has told me on good authority that singing and telling them jokes helps make them grow. She loves them. It will also be the 1st thing that they come in to see when they get in from school.
I have not told either of them yet that they are going to have an operation. (The sweet peas not the children )

A flying visit from my Mum and Dad, they had a look at the greenhouse and said that HH has done a very good job (He'll like that when I tell him / he reads this) Dad v. impressed. The sweet peas were spared eviction and my wheelbarrow spared the pea shingle. 2 bags outside the house, we can carry a bit through at a time.
Mum asked me what I was going to do with them (I dunno yet) Dad asked me what am I going to do when my sweet peas start climbing up the walls. Thinking about it now, should have said that is was part of our plan to avoid decorating the lounge. Not exactly sure what HH would think about that.

Get them into FULL light in the g'house or frame for a while then open air to harden off. The priority is LIGHT especially at this time of year otherwise they will get a bit drawn. Don't worry overmuch about cold, they are very hardy and if you are not exhibiting them then I would pinch out when about 3"-4" tall thahat will encourage sideshoots. If you intend to grow cordon fashion, ie individually up canes then don't bother to pinch out as they will break naturally. Either way you would then select a short chubby shoot to grow on.

Thank you Sweetpea, they have moved in but I have not got a clue yet what I really, really want, to do yet. (Fairy Pink Wellies has been singing Spice Girls and it is beginning to rub off onto me)
