Naturally moonlight wont be around. It is new moon tonight and therefore not visible.

erm, sorry for lack of saga updates. I just got overwhelmed with the whole should I cut things back or not. I thought that I was timing it right about waiting for the gap between leaving the wildlife winter protection and the commencement of spring and of course nesting. I don't think that I can cope with waiting until Autumn before trying to rescue my garden from the Triffids above. It blocks so much light and is totally disheartening, it makes me not want to be out in the garden because it is depressing which is why our garden has been neglected.
Anyway enough of the reading Garden Friends and knowing how my Dad managed to fight back and go back to his dahlias, made me feel empowered to fight back for my garden.
I put the photo up because it is the easiest way of describing my situation than trying to find the words but I am embarrassed about it or I would have put it up ages ago. My garden has quite a lot of potential and I want it to blossom into tiny steps toward what it can be.
Pirate Yellow Wellies really upset me about cutting it back but I have to (or I may as well concrete the lot over nb I did not say that to her). I don't know where the birds nests are and I certainly would not deliberately kill any bird intentionally (I'd be a pretty rubbish vegetarian if I did) but I do need to cut plants back. I've got loads of news and updates but I didn't know where to start and like I said felt a bit overwhelmed because I need to move forward on this garden tiny steps forward but some of those must include cutting back. I need a blank canvas for all the plants that I want to try and grow (that I still have to decide where to put) but most of all I need light. Thank you Geranium, Steve and Sweetpea for making me laugh, it is good to have a bit of banter and it is good to be with friends, seriously what you all achieve and reading the posts of other Garden Friends members, inspire me to keep on having ago but don't anyone say I mean well or I'll , I am not trying to mean well, I am trying to make a difference to my garden and growing a bit of pride in it as well, hopefully making more tiny steps forward than stumbles backwards.
I do have quite a lot of news but it is time for bed and I had to do this post first before I did an update, better out than in

erm, before I do head to bed, I have a confession to make.
I know that I have been guilty of mollycoddling my sweet peas in the past but they have been living outside au naturel in their pots for a while. I have moved them into my cold greenhouse today because it is snowing. Not because of the snow itself but the wind has been really bad with it. HH & girls on the way home from school kept talking about the 'blizzard' we have had today. I put them in the green house because I don't want their stems to snap. It was 2 degrees inside the greenhouse and as soon as the weather goes back to normal they will be evicted. I promise Uncle Sweetpea

don't be disheartened Moonlight, when we moved here our garden was a rubbish tip (http://garden-friends.co.uk/index.cgi?board=blogs&action=display&thread=216&page=1) like you say tiny steps, and you will achieve your goal, far more fun than having an 'instant garden'

I'm glad you're back. Moonlight - and I'm afraid gardening needs an awful lot of patience! As you say yourself - "small steps". Keep smiling!

We all have "downers" as far as gardening is concerned.
