Mental note to self buy a Hosepipe that when connected works.
Doing all the watering via watering can which is probably better for the environment and probably cheaper on the water meter bills but walking backwards and forth with cans is wasting precious gardening time when I could be doing exciting stuff like - weeding'joy'
but most importantly I need to plant those poor tomato plants. To my shame and frustration, the only plant that I have planted myself is one that had a tomato growing. Guilt factor 10.. Planted up in a 100% proof well rooted manure. I would have battled the stinging nettles that have been fighting back in the next round of weed wars but I jumped out of my skin when a greeny browny from jumped out. So now I don't want to disturb the slow worm territory on one side of the garden and I worry about getting any more of the manure sacks out in case I disturb (or worse stand on)another frog. So the weeds have brought in allies and then there are the mayflies that have come in the greenhouse which make me feel bad for trying to get rid of the tiny insects that they eat.

Been to the Doctor and he has looked at my finger. Instead of moving from a curled to straight out position smoothly. It flicks.
I've actually got 'trigger finger'. Trigger finger info.I've been told: Dahlias should come with a health warning
Ooops

I have finally planted up 8 tomatoes into my 4 growbags, so tomorrows job is to find places for the other ones to go. I am going to need more manure. I'll have to remember to ask my Dad if he can bring some at some point.

That should guarantee you a hosepipe ban ML 50metres is quite a long one just watch where you drag it to as it is so easy to accidently do some unexpected dead heading. I know you will be fine though unlike me

I know you will be fine though unlike me I think that you are probably right Sweetpea but I am using the opportunity to give the dahlias a jolly good drink whilst weeding as many of those little weeds that have come through. Followed up with a dressing of manure, with garnish of blue slug pellets. Hoping that the manure will keep the moisture in, suppress as many weeds as possible and offer some extra nutrients when it rains.
Well that's my plan anyway........
More to follow, including the fact that I was laughed today. Humphf. Gotta go got more weeding to do. Sunflowers for the girls to pot up and tomatoes to plant.
Fun, fun, fun.
PS You are right I am especially paranoid that I will knock my dahlias.

Went to the Hort. shop yesterday. It was very funny because as we drove in, we all spotted my Dad's car. We all piled out girls "Grandad! Grandad!" "Grandad! Grandad!" and rushed in the shop but there was no sign of him. Went in and the man serving said "Didn't you do well at the show with your potatoes!" To which we told him, yes they did but then after 11.15 2 more children arrived with their potatoes and so our girls went from 1st and 3rd to 3rd and no card. Then the discussions began in earnest. "What? but the deadline was 11!" we were joined by the other man who runs the shop and the more he heard, the more unimpressed he became. "I'll bring this up at the committee..." Also mentioned about the different varieties and yes, we were right they were supposed to be the same variety. I had actually brought my camera with me which would have had my show photos on it, if I hadn't left the blasted memory card at home in my computer! Humphf big time.
Exhibit A I will print it off and give it to him, probably won't see him until next show now. I won't give it to him then because it could spoil the fun of that show but I have explained that what had happened with the potatoes, spoilt the show for our family. So hopefully next year, all the children will grow the same variety of seed potato and there will be no late entries. I bet will be us running late though, well if we do well tough luck. Besides there is always next year........
More about Grandad and what happened once we found him later... going to sneak down to my greenhouse to open the door and window and check on my

Came home another one of my Downham Royals are out, same plant as before (shouldn't be long before the other one is in bloom thought I'll grab the moment and take another photo. Took 2 lovely true colours and then the memory flashed up 'Memory Card full up' humphf
Got one nice one up and posted it in Beginner thread but if I get any room on my memory card, I'll put some up here and probably give you a 'Happy Halloween' update humphf put it this way I wouldn't describe my feelings towards it as 'happy' - more compost bin and I never thought that I would say that.
