Bit more weeding & emptied out a large pot which I grew potatoes in last year to plant out some 'Mammoth' sweat peas.

the area where the bird feeder was by the pond was smelly and lots of bird seed growing and fermenting so as I had moved the feeders I dug everything out, spread topsoil and reseeded the area with the stepping stones back in place, topped up the new raised bed with fresh compost ready for planting and put bean poles up ready, only doing a few this year

My beans are in. This is a worthwhile crop. The tomatoes will probably be expensive to grow outside in pots but they will be tasty. The lettuces are coping with the slugs and this year I am trying a cucumber I remember from my youth which was called apple cucumber.

grindle, please don't turn your water feature on - we have more than enough water falling from the sky already! 😂😂😂 With the forecast rain to last all day I won't be going out on the balcony today! 🙁

Last Friday I got some Dragon Wings Begonias. I potted them up and now they look happy. I will put them out on the balcony at the end of the month. I've never grown this type of Begonia before. I have 6 plants of them.
I have mostly grown only the tuberous until now though I have grown the semperviven ones on several occasions, I even managed to keep them alive over the winter one year! I don't remember now how they did during the following year.
At present I have some Begonia tubers sprouting in pots on the balcony which I will transfer to the hanging baskets at the end of the month.
I'm expecting to be quite busy at the end of the month! I hope we have a couple of warm sunny days with little to no wind so I can get on with the jobs I need to do!

On the whole we haven't had much rain down here, out lawns are so dry they've begun to turn brown. Weeded and tidied up the long border that runs the length of our garden. It's the worst to work on as no amount of adjustment has made the high clay content any more manageable.....and that's after 42 years of trying!!!
Did get a lot more planting out done, probably now about halfway through.

I attacked the water feature again, cleaned out the reservoir, the pump and filter switched everything on it went for a short while then tripped out again, a process of elimination told me it was nothing to do with that pump but the one running the waterfall so having wasted the morning, it's now fine and so is the pond pump, I now have to tackle the waterfall by the time I'd finished it had started raining, so I'd ordered one of these tomato growhouses which I put together instead

24 hours solid rain made gardening somewhat impossible.
