I fed the birds, refreshed their frozen water and popped in the greenhouse and put fleece over some of the plants

It actually felt warm-ish out of the wind, and I went out and dug out a nasty pink Geranium (with difficulty!) and a variegated ivy that was scraggy. Then I cut the Buddleia back to 2'6". It hadn't got any sign of new growth at all below this, it was all at the top, but it's on a last warning. It may be the next 'plant' for the tip. Sadly, my Pyracantha trained against the wall outside the back door hasn't recovered in spite of cossetting, and I'm sure it's dying. Abi sorted out the Stipa gigantea and Miscanthus and cut back stems in the top border, weeding as she went.

Just lopped a couple of straggly bits off a 'mini' (about 5ft tall!) rose in between the showers & potted up some giant trailing fuchsias & begonias which came in the post.

I thought my Buddleia 'Black Knight' had died and asked a friend for a cutting from hers which has taken. However, the surprise is that this buddleia has grown from its base. I will leave it as it is in the right place and has suitable dramatic coloured planting around it.

Spent the day sorting out in the greenhouse to try and make some space. Any unwanted plants are now outside, all the seedlings and rooted chrysanthemums are on one side which has given me most of the other side to use for other things.
Once that was done I turned my attention to the dahlia cuttings. I decided to empty every pot to check on developments and discard or re-insert as necessary.
I was rather surprised that quite a few of this batch had rooted so I potted up what I could - 15 plants in total.
Pricked out the antirrhinums into a seed tray. Then took more dahlia cuttings.

Cherry, I think we're going to have to cut the Pyracantha off at ground level, then gravel over it. I shouldn't think it'll regenerate but I'll be in trouble if it does, because I'm planning to put a planter there.
