Helped hubby chop up the trunk of a conifer that we took down last week, he then mowed the lawn and I edged it. Removed all the over wintering plants from the greenhouse and coldframes so that they could enjoy the fresh air and gave the ones that needed it another drink. Planted out some Lavender and Hebes that I grew from cuttings that I took couple of years ago. In the afternoon I rehomed several varieties of self seeded Primulas and did some weeding.

I watered everything in the greenhouse & then spiked the lawn all over with a garden fork (managed to get a blister on my hand doing that) & then brushed some sand into the holes to try & help aerate it a bit. I think we'll all be getting a fair bit of gardening done at the moment!

I've been tidying and weeding the area around my raised bed, and trying to work out where my new roses will go. It was in such a mess that I still have lots to do there. I didn't get around to sowing any seeds, maybe I'll do it over the week end. I also tidied my blackberry, cut out the old canes and tied the new ones in.

sanded the outside table and chairs and gave them a coat of teak oil, my friend came and took them (at a safe distance) as they were really too big and not getting used, I bought myself a little bistro set instead which will give me a lot more space

Spent the whole day in the garden again, gradually altering a border as hubs raised the canopy on conifer so the whole area has more light now. Planted out some Hellibores, I will do the rest today.

I watered everything in the greenhouse, all the hanging baskets & a few of the pots which were all suffering in the heat! Potted up 3 each of the courgettes & cucumbers which I sowed on the 17th which were growing well & sowed the mini cucumber & Japanese black tomato seeds I received in the post.

Also enjoyed sitting on the patio in the sun having a cuppa with O.H. Garden still looks scruffy but not bothered, birds are tweeting & butterflies & bees are fluttering past. Also the first bat last night as well.

Well, sad to hear that our local village Italian (the real deal, family trattoria) having shifted to takeaways, will now have to close altogether. God bless them. I gave him some business consultancy suggestions for the way forward, medium-long term. The better half and I then sat in the sunny conservatory afterwards, to raise one or two glasses of Italian red to him.
Relevant to this thread, I’m (sadly?) excited to have ordered packs of butterfly-friendly seeds, for sowing into the borders, rather than buying plugs as in previous years. It’s cheaper, and I’m in a ‘whatever’ mindset with what comes up, in the nicest sense. I’m also ordering some summer flowering bulbs soon.

I just played with my seeds today got so many veg seeds to sow . I`m also having another go at "Jobes Tears" they have all germinated well so i just need them to grow and produce seed so I can string them as beads. Some of my laminated seeds labels are letting in water not good ,so I`ve been on the computer making them all smaller and will leave a little trim of laminate around the edges and hope that helps.

That looks lovely grindle, very stylish! All I did was water everything again from the water butts & top up the pond a bit as well, the butts are getting low now - we could do with some rain!
