Planted out 4 little alpine plants I got at the weekend in the sink & step ladder display where there were a few gaps. I finally received the 2 grow bags I'd ordered from Thompson & Morgan 3 months ago - I'd had a reply to my email a few weeks ago saying the order had been picked so they couldn't cancel it but it would be delivered that week & I could refuse it & ask for a refund if I wanted, it didn't arrive & they changed it to larger Tomorite bags as their own brand had run out & they arrived yesterday with 2 bags of Inredicrop feed & a £5 voucher as an apology. I'd already planted up some of my tomatoes in large pots so I took these & the shelves which had all my small pots on out of the greenhouse & cleaned all the glass inside (well on the side I was going to use! ) & then put the grow bags in with the collars/bottomless pots on them & planted them up. I hope your tomatoes are all right SueA this weather is just right for blight. I see T&M are having problems fulfilling orders . They installed a new computer system which is having problems they say. I used to be able to go ins to orders and check several seed purchases but now you have to put in the order number which is a pain. www.theguardian.com/money/2019/apr/16/plant-firm-thompson-morgan-sows-seeds-of-despair (you might have have to click "not now" where it asked for registration to read the article )

T&M have definitely been having more problems due to Covid19 ladybird but I think they would have been struggling anyway & as you say the new computer system won't have helped, I don't like having to look up the order number to put it in either, it was much easier when you could look at the full list of all your orders. I haven't seen any blight yet here (fingers crossed! ) but my tomatoes are in the greenhouse so get a bit of protection although it does get in there eventually. The potatoes in pots outside are O.K. as well for now but the conditions are ideal for blight as you say with it being wet & warm so will have to watch out for it. I planted out most of the leftover bedding plants I'd grown yesterday, popping some in gaps in pots & baskets, still have a few trays sitting around near the greenhouse which I'll have to plant out somewhere though & a few perennials to plant out. Something - probably one of the big fat woodpigeons - has managed to knock the sundial off it's plinth so I'll have to stick that back on when it's dry, I used 'No more Nails' type stuff last time & it's lasted a few years.

I have easy to grow veg in pots and have picked 3 zucchini, loads of loose lettuce leaves, which I keep renewing from fresh seed, rocket and am going to pick my first French beans today. The 3 outdoor tomato plants already have green tomatoes so they should ripen nicely on the patio.

I'm glad to read of all your gardening jobs being done. Nothing done here - weather not good for being outside

I threw out lots of tomato plants with blight and I found one suspicious collapsed potato that went in the bin as well and I`ll keep an eye on the rest as they are jus flowering. A wee pic of a few tomatoes just for your opinion in case it might just be bad watering . What do you think ? Blight ?

I'm not sure that is blight in your pics. ladybird as it usually turns the leaves black/brown & the first pic. in particular looks more like some kind of leaf scorch/watering/feeding problem as it's in a very small pot? Lots of mine have dropped/purple/crinkled leaves as I kept them in tiny pots too long waiting for the grow bags but when you plant them on they pick up. I would have kept the one with all the green tomatoes on & potted it on & fed it to give it a chance, I've done that before later in the season & just picked off any suspicious leaves & kept harvesting tomatoes even when it is blight as long as it hasn't reached the fruits. I popped out between showers & did some dead-heading & cutting back in the front garden yesterday, I think I've found a small space where I could actually fit something in, only about 8 inches across but I'm sure I can find something for it!

Ha ha. Of course you can find something for your 8” patch. You could squeeze a shrub in there! That was always my trouble in my past garden.

Thanks Sue indeed you may be right and this compost is difficult to keep wet.The ones in the pictures do look more scorched and I wonder if some of the ones I binned were brown after being scorched as well? I went into the bin and retrieved several good sized tomatoes and I`ll plant them in the garden just to see as there is nothing to loose . The ones in bigger pots seem to have less of a problem . I also think it odd that the potatoes are ok in the garden

It looks like scorch to me also ladybird ...
I went down to the polytunnel this morning to water the tomatoes and my Coleus seedlings. Then the weather became stormy so nothing more was done.

Nothing didn't even go down to the g'house so the stuff in there will just have to cope without my input.

attacked the bay tree suckers again (I really hate this tree ) cut ivy back and swept up leaves all at the top of the garden, looks like a pointless excercise with the wind at the moment

I received a pack of 12 different digitalis baby plants in the post from Hayloft - another thing I'd forgotten I'd ordered- so I had to plant them up in a couple of cell trays in the drizzle for now & put them in the greenhouse. Checked in the greenhouse & tied up & watered the tomatoes & cucumbers.

They will be lovely SueA. Are they different varieties or different colours?
