It sounds as though the agapanthus was happy enough in the bag grindle! I just harvested the first of my pots of potatoes, some Winston, not very many in it but the Winston seed potatoes seemed to go quite soft when they were chitting so there may have been something wrong with them, this is the second year that the Winston variety haven't been very good & they're certified seed potatoes, never mind I still have several other varieties. We have a little baby hedgehog who comes out at dusk now so we stood at the patio doors watching it potter around last night, got a pic. the night before, low light so not very good:-

did some work in the front, tidied up another bed where the work had been done, will need some plants to go in the gaps, planted out an agapanthus that came from mum's garden, poor thing had been sitting in a bag and had taken root, it had even started to flower, must be happier in the garden now Agapanthus are supposed to like their roots restricted according to expert gardeners, but I put one in a larger pot and it has four long stems with buds, so I don’t believe this now. However, my smaller stripey one is not showing any sign of flowering after being moved to a larger pot. It will settle down and flower next year I am sure.

I planted out the last few bedding plants I had sitting around into spaces in pots & baskets & planted out seed grown zinnias, cornflowers, echinaceas, calendulas & borage, still have seed grown ox-eye daisies, ammi majus, hyssop & the salvia & digitalis collections to find homes for. We didn't see the baby hedgehog last night but at the time it has been coming everywhere was so wet it would have needed swimming trunks!

Since we had better weather today I was actually able to do some cutting back of overgrown plants and clear away weeds growing between the paving stones in the path and I tidied my tomato plants and gave tomato feed to them and the Fuchsias ...

I dug out some water avens which had taken over in the border at the 'wild' end of the garden & planted 3 primula 'Miller's Crimson' in there which had been growing on in pots & moved some candelabra primulas which had popped up on the pathway down there into the space created in the border. Did a bit of weeding & managed to squeeze a tray of seed grown ox-eye daisies into some tight spaces, still have another tray of them to plant out.

put up the new bird feeder station, cleaned and mended one of the feeders, topped up the pond then removed a load of duckweed, fed and watered all the containers and watered new plants. Emptied out one of the recycle bins and got quite a few potatoes from a small container

That's a nice crop grindle, are they Red Duke of York, that's what Monty harvested this week on G.World. I weeded the area around the compost bins & the bed next to them, I didn't want to tidy too much down there as I think the hedgehogs snooze under there so I leave it a bit wild with a few nettles for the butterflies as well.

I`ll be out with the weedkiller today, trying for the 3rd year to get rid of this weed . it has a network under the ground and I`m afraid it might pop up inside the greenhouse Geumlover thought it was Betony. Stachys officinalis a few years ago , it certainly looks like it from internet pics. Lovely spuds grindle what variety are they ? do let us know how they taste later. i`m thinking of adding "flavour" to my veg file for this poor memory of mine

Finally got round to sorting out the compost containers. Sieved the contents of the older stuff and then filled it up again from the other bin. Did my back in doing all that. What idiot said gardening is good for you? Anyway have stopped putting teabags and eggshells into the compost as the tend not to rot down. The bins have been getting really full as lots of Canadian pond weed being removed from the fish pond to give them some room. It grows very fast at this time of year but luckily it rots down fairly quickly. Mind you I've been getting some good compost so now have a ready to use mulch when required. Trailer ready for another trip to tip on Friday. Got so much to cut back still to do and I can't store it all without problems. Will be glad when tip starts operating as normal.
